Phra Chinnaraj is one of the most beautiful and venerated Buddha sculptures in the posture of submitting Mara in Thailand. Wat Yai is famous throughout Thailand for this gold casted Phra Buddha Chinnaraj also known as “Victory Buddha” to the Thais. Wat Yai is also referred to as Wat Phra Sri Rattanna Mahatat Woramahawthan and it is regarded as the most important Thai Theravada monastery in Phitsanulok Province. The sculpture of this Buddha for Success traces back to BE 1900 with a history of more than 650 years. It is considered the highest class of sculpture in Buddhistic Arts.
Several faithful copies of the Phra Chinnaraj are displayed in other temples, including Wat Benchamabophit in Bangkok and Wat Saranat Thammaram in Rayong. Also, the Phra Chinnaraj is depicted on the official seal of the Phitsanulok Province.
